I've ordered from here twice and had a hit and miss experience both times - most recently a couple of days ago. We ordered takeout, which took an hour rather than the expected 30 minutes so we got off to a bad start. Once the food finally arrived, the chicken korma was great, as was the pumpkin masala. It's a good thing we enjoyed the pumpkin because we received an extra portion and didn't get the lamb rogan josh we'd ordered. The saag paneer was tasty, but a massive let down - the container was almost entirely sauce with only 6 small pieces of paneer! Hardly a main course... The garlic naan was ok.If the quality were more consistent, it would have the potential to be great - for now, check your order carefully if getting takeout!

We were planning to go to the Rose Street market in Fitzroy on a Saturday morning and were walking towards our destination when we stumbled across Horse On Heels. The interior looked very inviting, and the smell of waffles coming out from the open kitchen was an opiate to our starved bodies.We ordered three waffles with two of them being sweet (Nutella-based) and one savoury (with a mushroom omelette and cherry tomatoes). They were delicious! My daughters wolfed down their shared waffle and we had to order another one! The lattes are pretty good quality too.We would definitely come back here!

Really great traditional pub, of which there aren't many left these days. The food is awesome, good beer and wine selection and they often have great live music. The outdoor area is good too, esp in summer. Great pub.

It lived up to its fame, I have to say one of my dishes wasn't that fabulous but the other was and the choice alone was amazing. Will be back to this place!!!

Expensive. Tired. Disappointing. I'd had beers here some years ago, but we've been away from Melbourne and in that time I doubt a single dime has been spent on this place. Yet their prices for spirits are right up there with the classiest bars in the world. And the selection was impressive. I just don't understand how a primarily hipster focused venue thinks such prices are okay, when a couple of well paid businessmen think twice about a second drink. A strange smell was pervasive. We couldn't place it. Stale alcohol mixed with bleach? And then there is the floor. See through but not in a stylish way, gaps between floorboards that move noticeably underfoot. Oh dear. Drinkers may well end visiting a cellar bar by sheer accident one day. A sturdy looking building from the outside, an old corner pub, that is anything but solid in terms of interior and value.
