Cappuccino arrived when we were finished our meal. How hard is it for a coffee to arrive on time at a coffee shop. Won't be coming back here.
As a local family, we've been a long time loyal customer of Ebony Quill mainly prior to it being taken over by the new owners. Today we ordered three 'Rustic Chicken Salads' and a Mexican pizza. The chicken salads each had two thin strips of chicken whereas the chicken salad of the past had at least double that. My daughter asked for avocado as an extra on hers and the five thin slivers of avo came out on the bill as an extra $3.00. Our only conclusion was that the new owners think they can take cost out of the equation without really understanding what the customer values. I appreciate running a small business is not simple and remaining competitive while still earning enough is not easy. With that in mind, I thought I'd politely offer the staff member behind the bar some feedback when we were paying the bill. I simply mentioned that we were disappointed about the two thin strips of chicken in the chicken salad and that I didn't feel it represented fair value. He just said "ok - thanks" (with a grumpy look on his face). If he had of said something like "sorry to hear that and we'll look into your feedback", then I'd have at least felt there was some hope for Ebony Quill remaining a good choice. Based on the today's experience, another Camberwell cafe will now become our new regular haunt!Sorry Ebony Quill, but value is important and competition sorts out those who provide fair value and those who don't.
