I organised a wake after my brother's funeral, and had to pay half the total amount as deposit days before the event. At which time I was told that I had picked the menu, of samosa's and cocktail spring rolls, but I hadn't ordered anything as yet, so organised it then while I was there. Sandwiches party pies quiches and some sweets. A few tables to be there but mostly standing so we could mingle with the 80 guests. NOT what we got at all. Plates of tuna sandwiches, that were all left over as no one wanted to eat them. They looked as appetizing as road kill. Then there was the samosa's and sping rolls that we didn't want, and luke warm frozen packet sausage rolls. There were a lot of elderly people attending, who just went hungry, as well as myself. When I bought it to the staff attention, they then put out one plate with maybe six hallves of bread with melted cheese. Then there was the bar... Well the girl behind the bar didnt know what sparkling wine was, so I had to show her, then she had no chnge in her till, so because i only had a fifty dollar note, i couldnt buy a drink unless i put it on my card. But problem was they had a ten dollar minimum on card purchases, so i had to buy two drinks at a time. Also only one bar staff, so the queue to get a drink at the wake was ridiculous. On such a traumatic day for my family, we really didn't need this. I was so angry and distraught about it all. When paying the final bill, I was told that staff had spoken to the owner and I was given $70 off, and promised a discount on my next booking. Woop de doo. Seventy bucks is a slap in the face when paying so much to have what we ordered!!!! As for my next booking there, that will be when he'll freezes over. NEVER again.
